Enabling FAX on the GrandStream GXW-4104 Gateway

    To enable Inbound FAX on the GXW4104 T.38 settings must be enabled for the appropriate FXO channels.

    Load the gateway’s web interface

    Click on the “FXO Lines” tab

    Confirm that “T.38 Setting” is enabled to relay on all channels. The settings for GXW4104 should be: "ch1-4:mode=1,rate=9600,ecm=1;" , while the settings for GXW-4108 should be: "ch1-8:mode=1,rate=9600,ecm=1;" – this will set all channels to mode 1 (Relay as opposed to pass-through using PCMU), the baud rate is set to the default 9600, and ECM is set to the default 1 which means that error correction is enabled.

Grandstream 4024 FXS Quick Guide

The Grandstream 4024 FXS Gateway allows you to integrate up to 24 Analog Stations to the
PBX over SIP. Configuration of the Grandstream 4024 FXS Gateway is as simple as following
the steps below.

  1. Create an Extension in the PBX as you would normally.
  2. Copy the SIP password and note the Extension Number, as they will be used later.
  3. Connect the Grandstream 4024 to the network via the LAN port.
  4. Power the Grandstream 4024 with the power supply provided.
  5. Discern the IP address of the Grandstream 4024.
    1. Connect an analog phone to any FXS port on the Grandstream 4024.
    2. Dial * * * from the analog phone.
    3. Enter 002 in the menu, and the Grandstream 4024 will tell you its IP address.
  6. Log into the Grandstream 4024 GUI.
    1. Enter the IP address for the device in your web browser.
    2. Enter the password <admin> to begin configuring the Grandstream 4024.
  7. Configure the Server.
    1. Navigate to Profile 1.
    2. Enter the IP address of the PBX under Primary SIP Server.
    3. Click the Update button at the bottom of the page.

8. Configure DTMF Method.
  1. Navigate to Profile 1.
  2. Set Preferred DTMF: Priority 1 to SIP Info (assuming the extension created in the PBX is set to Info, otherwise ensure this field matches what is set for the extension).
  3. Click the Update button at the bottom of the page.

9. Configure the Extensions.
  1. Navigate to FXS Ports.
  2. For each extension you will use one port, and enter the following data which was noted or copied under step 2.
    1. SIP User ID = <extnum>
    2. Authenticate ID = <extnum>
    3. Password = <SIP Password>
  3. Click the Update button at the bottom of the page.

10. Click the Reboot button at the bottom of the page.
Once the Grandstream 4024 has rebooted, any configured extensions should be registered and
functional. No other fields NEED to be changed for regular use.
