IPitomy PBX Install Guide
This page is a generic guide to installing a IPitomy PBX.
In order to install an IPitomy PBX you will need:
- PBX
- Router
- Managed Switch (Unmanaged will work but is not recommended)
- Miscellaneous CAT5e or CAT6 patch cables
- A connecion to the Internet is required for full PBX functionality
Connection of the IP PBX requires a "clean" network and PC to access the PBX GUI (Graphical User Interface). Use of a web browser is imparative and the most fundamental element of IP PBX installation. If you are unfamiliar with browsers (MSIE, Chrome, Firefox) you should not attempt to install an IP - based product. Seek guidance and assistance from a network/PC competent individual.
Steps:
- Take it out of the box. (Everything)
- If this PBX will be installed into an existing network, determine that network configuration
- What is the LAN IP Address of the router?
- What is the DHCP Range allocation?
- What is the current QOS settings?
- What devices are currently on the network?
- Determine the network configuration
- What will be the LAN IP Addressing Scheme? 192.168.xxx.xxx, 172.16-31.xxx.xxx, or 10.xxx.xxx.xxx
- What will be the DHCP Range?
- There are some (VERY FEW) devices on the network that should have Static IP Addresses assigned. They are:
- IP PBX
- Router
- Managed Switch(es)
- All other devices should be automatically assigned IP Addresses (DHCP)
- There are some (VERY FEW) devices on the network that should have Static IP Addresses assigned. They are:
- Confirm the IP Address of the PBX
- When the IPitomy IP PBX is shipped it is shipped with an IP Address of 192.168.1.249. This can be used on most networks since most networks are configured 192.168.1.xxx
- If the IP PBX is being installed on an existing network with a different IP Addressing scheme, the PBX IP Address must be changed
- Make the following connections:
- Connect the Router to the internet
- Connect the WAN (Internet) port of the router to the Internet Service Provider INTERNET connection
- Connect the Data Swtich to the Router
- Connect one of the UPLink data ports of the Data Switch to the LAN port of the router
- Connect the PBX to the Data Switch
- The PBX can be installed on any available port of the Data Switch
- Connect the PC to the Data Switch
- The PC can be installed on any available port of the Data Switch
- Ignore the unused ports on the router
