Using a Gmail Account

Many times the email account provided by the end user won't work, or is giving difficulty. Its been our experience its best to not waste time trying to figure out something you don't have control over. In these cases, its advisable to create a gmail account and use that for Unified Messaging. Below is an overview of how this would be configured.

  • From Address: <gmail email address>
  • Voicemail Server: Ext
  • Server Address: smtp.gmail.com
  • SSL Support: Yes
  • Server Port: 465
  • Authentication Required: Yes
  • User Name: <gmail email address>
  • Password: <gmail password>

NOTE: We have received reports from our dealers in the field that you may need to enable a setting in your GMail account for "Access for Less Secure Apps" to get things working.

If you are still encountering difficulty when using a gmail account you can access gmail settings using these links:

1) Login to your gmail account.

2) Go to https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps and Turn On this feature.

3) Go to https://accounts.google.com/DisplayUnlockCaptcha and click Continue.

Using a Microsoft Office 365 Account

The "Voicemail From Address" absolutely must be either a real email address or an alias configured. You cannot use a nonexistent address even though your account login is real. Use the following for the rest of the settings.

  • From Address: <365 email address>
  • Voicemail Server: Ext
  • Server Address: smtp.office365.com
  • SSL Support: No
  • Server Port: 587
  • Authentication Required: Yes
  • User Name: <365 login name/email>
  • Password: <365 password>
